Daniel had a lot of eating to make up for. Dug in as soon as I took the lid of the cat food.
We are getting more setled in by Saturday morning. Kevin is liking the internet and the girls watch Disney channel every minute they can.
The community assistances (Stephanie and Guillermo) lead a neighborhood tour Saturday at 2pm. We see the 2 parks that are nearby, a church, a breif tour of campus, the ice cream truck, and several cafes. After the tour we stop in the nearest grocery store the Appletree, the nearest pharmacy, and the campus bookstore. Serena buys some New York postcards and stamps. Kevin and the girls each get a giant cookie from the Appletree. This is a teaching school so the bookstore was full of children's books as well as books about child care (homes and centers) and schools.
Everyone is exhausted and we all sleep in the next day (Sunday). We are taking baby steps and it is a big deal just walking to the corner to the Appletree. We are getting more familiar with our building. The laundry, trash, and recycling are in the basement. Mailboxes are past the policeman's desk. Everyone we pass introduces themselves. The people in the building are very friendly.
We meet our next door neighbors. The husband is in the same program as Kevin. They have a daughter Lilly's age, and Mom is staying home with her until she figures out what to do (similar to Serena's situation).
The policeman on the next shift was Linda, very nice to Serena and helped her get a guest badge so she did not need to sign in any more. On Monday Serena can get her own campus ID card.
