This is a newstand. They sell soda, gum, cigarettes, and newspapers. We had only seen these in movies before this. Pretty cool to see one in real life. It is just stand set up on the sidewalk.
This is the second children's bookstore that we went in. It is "Book Culture" and you enter by going down stairs along the side of the building. The entire basement is a chidlren's area. There is a wooden doll house with pieces and also wooden play food. Small benches to sit on and toys to play with. There was a section of children's books in French and another section in Spanish. They have story time each week in both Spanish and French.
The other store we went in, sorry no picture, reminded Serena of the store in the movie "You've got Mail". The walls were all wood and in the center of the store was a wooden staircase going to a second level. The upstairs had teaching and parenting books. Under the staircase were more bookshelves and also toys and games. Lots of board books, chapter books, picture books. This store also had a section in Spanish. Unlike any other store we have been in here, this one was run by several women who were very knowledgable and vey friendly. Customer Service in this city is usually nonexistant!
