Elevator Adventures

This is our very old elevator. It is wood. There is a window so you can see each floor as you pass it. There are 8 floors and we are on number 5. We had our first elevator adventure today.

Abby went with me to take the dogs out and Katie statyed in the apartment with Lilly. We went out through the basement door and were waiting for the elevator to go back upstairs. There were two other women waiting as well. The elevator was taking foreverand we began discussing other ways to get out of the basement. The exit is only to the courtyard and does not go around to the front entrance. There are no stairs in the basement. THe elevator finally arrived and we all got on. It went up to 8, even though we had pushed 1 and 5, then went back down to the basement, again skipping 1 and 5. After the basement it went up to 1. We got off and decided to take the stairs to 5, pulling Alyss (the lazy dog) behind us. Abby went behind and helped nudge her up each flight. Later we were goign down to 1 to the play room. Abby did not want to get back on the elevator but there was another women riding so I convinced her to get back on. When we were ready to go back up to our apartment the thing was packed full. Me, the 3 girls, a dad and child we had played with, and 2 other women. We got in and pushed the floors we needed and it didn't move. The doors did not open. We tried pushing other buttons and all jumping at once because someone said that works sometimes. Then one of the women called the police for help. The elevator started to move and went to floor 4 where we happily got off and climbed the stairs to 5.

This is the view of the elevators from the 5th floor. Upon exiting the elevators you turn right and go down the hallway in the next picture.

At the end of that hallway you turn left and our apartment is the last door at the end of this hallway.

This is the cart we used to unload the U-Haul and take stuff up to our apartment.
