We stopped at another rest area (exit 13) for lunch. Abby pushed Lilly around in her stroller and Katie and Serena walked the dogs. We figured out how to tie their leashes to the hitch so they could stay out after their walk. We set the cat carriers outside in the grass so the cats could get some fresh air as well. There was a nice picnic area and vending machines. There was even ice cream in one machine. The girls spent some of their money and each got a soda and also some Cheetohs and Twizzlers. Serena unpacked sandwiches and chex mix for lunch. Kevin retied the tarp onto the roof of the van. Once again Serena tried to clean out and rearrange the van to make more room. The girls wanted to stay in the back seat but we moved the cat carriers to the middle to give them more room.
We are already forgetting the Illinois nature. Katie said, "Madeline (cat) looks like those animals like chipmunks but with a long bushy tail." She meant a squirrel.
We get moving again and Lilly and the animals all go to sleep. We can't believe how well everyone is traveling.
