This is the entrance to the subway.
You go down the stairs and then there is a place to slide your card. Each person costs $2.25 regardless of how far you ride. (Bus works the same way.)
After sliding your card each person can walk thru the turnstyle and then it locks shut again.
On the ride there we all got seats and thee train car was relatively empty. Coming home people were standing. Someone gave me a seat since I was holding Lilly. The girls stood right in front of me and held onto the pole. It was very crowded and would have been easy for people to get robbed. I had my coin purse zipped inside my jacket pocket so felt okay. There was nothing of any value in the backpack or diaper bag. I was worried about us getting to the door okay but the girls did great. Held hands and made sure we all stayed together.
When you get off the train at 116th this is the sign on the wall.
To exit the station you go through this turnstyle and then you get to the stairs.
These are the stairs going back up to Broadway street.
This is the exit on 116th and Broadway. The stations on the river side of the road go downtown (street numbers go down, nicer part of town); the stations across the street on the university side of Broadway go uptown (street numbers go up, bad part of town from 125th on)

We rode from the 116th station to 86th station and got out and walked to a Homeschool Event at River Run Park, on 83rd. We then rode the train back home from 86th to 116th. We then walked from 116 to 121. Park details on another blog.
