Subway trip home. We left the parade at 10 am. It wasn't over yet but we were cold and had seen enough. The girls did great weaving thru the crowd. Katie led and I held Lilly and onto Katie's backpack. Abby held Lilly's foot and Kevin held Abby's hand. No one let go and no one got lost.
At our end of town there are seperate stations to go up or down town. Here it was the same station. Kevin used his unlimited card and I used the $20 card from this morning for everyone else. There were trains on both sides of the platform. We got on the train that came first and confirmed that it went to 116th. The car was pretty empty and we easily all ahd seats. Lilly had a great time playign in this mirror bu her seat. The driver was actually right on the other side of the mirror and waved out the window at us when we got off.
It is always disorienting to come above ground from the station and it takes me a minute to read the street signs and figure out which direction I need to go. Okay, this time we came up and were not in our neighborhood! Remember my trip down 125th with the girls. We made it to Lenox before turning around and giving up. Granted this is Thanksgiving Day and the streets were pretty empty bu that is where we came out. It was 116th street, just not at Broadway, but at Lenox Avenue. Thankfully the numbers get bigger as you go north so we were able to figure out which way was west and head out. We went down to 121 and then over. I am more cautious than Kevin and generally won't walk down an empty street, but he wantred to go stright down 121. It runs into the Morningside Park. I always go o n123 to avoid the million stairs to get out of the park. Not Kevin he walked straight thru and then climbed all those stairs carrying Lilly asleep in the buggy. The girls and I were cold and tired and not to thrilled about the extra exercise. We made it home quickly though. This picture here, once we went from 116 to 121, Kevin spotted the church steeple which is on our block and so we knew exactly where we were. Do you see it in the back of the photo towards the left? It comes up behind the trees. In hind sight we probably should have gotten o nthe train on the other side of the platform. We are still learning :)
