Good Bye School

Saying good-bye at Abby's school was much harder than we had anticipated. She still fussed about going but we had reached a place where things were better. Serena met her 2 days a week for lunch. She walked to school more willingly with her friends. She still hated the huge amoutn of homework and the noise of the lunch room. Beacsue of all the problems we were well known throwout the school and lots of staff and students came up to talk to us as we left. We wrote a personal note to the teacher, counselor, and both principals thanking them for all their extra help as she adjusted. It was especially sad since she was finally starting to adjust.

Abby in her classroom and with her teacher Mrs Broomfield.

The hated cafeteria!

A flag the children made to decorate the top of the stairwell.

Decorations around the school. Serena especially liked this one with the row of apartment buildings in the background. The children are playing in the snow or ice skating.

Abby is pointing to the decoration she made for the tree.

A neat quote. Frederick Douglass was a very popular person in the city. We posted a picture of his statue with our Central Park visit.

This is the view from the school looking down Amsterdam.

This is the view looking at Morningside. The school was on the corner of these two streets.
